Born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Laduma Ngxokolo is a textile and knitwear designer who has quickly risen up the ranks in the industry by his MaXhosa brand which is a reflection of his isiXhosa heritage.
This visionary saw a gap in the market and created his premium knitwear luxury brand. His fame began in 2010 when he earned bursaries from Cape Wools South Africa and Mohair South Africa and then went on to win the South African national leg of the South African Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) Design Competition, sending him to London where he won first place for the competition.
From then on, he has received numerous achievements namely, the 2014 WeTransfer Scholarship to study masters in Material Futures at the Central St. Martins, the 2015 Vogue Italia Scouting for Africa prize, Fashion Designer of the Year Southern Africa: ABRYANZ Style and Fashion Awards in 2016 and many more.
He continues to represent South Africa on a global stage by expanding his brand with his exceptional craftsmanship and ideas which have been recognised and endorsed by Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Swiss Beats and Rafael Saadiq.
Laduma’s brand is also available in the United States, Netherlands, Switzerland, Nigeria, Paris and Japan.
